Step 1: How To Get Started
A referral for pulmonary rehabilitation is required from your healthcare provider. Please contact us to assist in obtaining a referral. After the referral is processed, a member of the HRN onboarding team will contact you for scheduling.
Step 2: Connecting To The HRN Telehealth Program
Getting started with online Pulmonary Rehab is easy. All you need is:
- A computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and the Zoom application.
- Comfortable, safe space to perform light exercises and breathing techniques.
- A water bottle, chair, and any prescribed medical devices (such as oxygen, inhalers, or spirometers).
- Patient Handbook
- Items in your HRN patient kit (if purchased) – DELTA-V Lung Trainer, Incentive Spirometer, Pulse Oximeter, Exercise Band, and Harmonica.

Step 3: Meet Your Pulmonary Rehab Team
You’ll be guided by licensed respiratory therapists and clinical staff who will:
- Assess your current lung health and physical ability.
- Customize a personalized rehab care plan based on your condition and goals.
- Provide ongoing support, education, and motivation throughout your program.
Step 4: Start Your Rehab Sessions
You will participate in interactive classes with a licensed respiratory therapist and patient care coordinator medical assistant. These classes will include:
- Education Modules – Understanding medications, oxygen therapy, lifestyle adjustments, and more.
- Breathing Techniques & Exercises – Learning expert-approved methods to improve lung function and reduce breathlessness.
- Cardiovascular Training – Participating in exercises designed to develop and improve cardiovascular function and stamina.
- Strength and Conditioning Training – Participating in exercises designed to develop and improve muscle strength, tone, and flexibility.
Step 5: Monitor Your Progress & Stay Engaged
Your progress will be part of a team approach that includes you, the HRN pulmonary team, and your physician.
- Track Your Vitals – Enter and review key health metrics, including oxygen levels, heart rate, and activity levels.
- Daily Journal – Log how you’re feeling, track your progress, and share insights with your care team.
- Community Support – Connect with other program patients and healthcare specialists.
- Physician Reporting – Follow up with your physician to review HRN physician progress reports.
